Germans were most afraid of rising living costs in 2023, with 65 percent of respondents to a survey conducted in the country confirming this. Other strongly present fears included housing becoming unaffordable and the economic situation becoming worse. This is reflective of the worldwide situation as adults in many countries, including Germany, are worried about their financial future. This survey asked people how afraid they were regarding various issues.
The survey was based on structured face-to-face interviews with closed-ended questions and answers on a scale of 1 (not afraid at all) to 7 (most afraid). In the analysis answers 5,6 or 7 were classed as "most afraid".
